John G. Messerly PhD is an Senior Affiliate Research Fellow in the department of philosophy at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa; an Affiliate Member of the Evolution, Complexity, and Cognition Group (localized at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel), and an affiliate scholar of the Institute for Ethics & Emerging Technologies. He also lectures in philosophy at Seattle University. His most recent books are: The Meaning of Life: Religious, Philosophical, Transhumanist, and Scientific Perspectives (2013) and Who Are We? Religious, Philosophical, Scientific and Transhumanist Theories Of Human Nature (2015).

The book reads like a rant -- there are no academic references

The book reads like a rant -- there are no academic references, just only the author's opinions. Some chapters are objective, others, like the chapter on Christianity, is a rant about how much he doesn't like Christianity.
