The book has a major malfunction, almost whole chapter is printed wrong/missing.

The book is great... however, there is a missing chapter. When you get to chapter 25 the readings are not what is stated in the contents at the beginning of the book. This book is Volume 2 of a two book series. The readings go in chronological order. When you get to reading #169 (in chapter 25)Martin Luther King Jr., Letter from a Birmingham Jail the next reading is from reading #83 Hinton R. Helper (1857) instead of #170 The Sharon Statement (1960). This is messed up for the eight readings (170-177). These readings should have been in Volume 1, since this book starts at the year 1865 and goes to the year 2011. Pretty disappointing, since I needed a few of these readings for a research paper.

This was required reading for my American History class at college, but I have to say it was an easy to follow supplement to "Give Me Liberty!" by same author. I love to read but juggling two books for reading assignments for class has been a little tricky if you have to refer to this and Give Me Liberty! All in all, a very honest look at American History.

Warning, this book has multiple issues that make me highly recommend not purchasing. I own the book and feel it is so poorly written and the ideas are so poorly described that I do not feel this information should be passed on to anyone, thus when I am done with my class I will burn this book. Here are some of the issues with the book:
Poorly defines variables and equations;
Graphs and figures are poorly described and detailed;
Example values that are given in the book are not explained or the method of calculation is not given;
Examples are poorly described, numbers are given with no definition or description or where they came from;
Variables have multiple meanings in the same example;
Examples are explained out of order from what is taught in the text;
Equations are poorly organized and described;
Questions at end of chapter use variable not described in the chapter;
Units are missing from many numbers, causing confusion of what they are;
Book makes assumptions about the reader that might not be true;
Book includes notes that are unpublished or not peer-reviewed;
Adds unnecessary variables;
There are not enough numerical examples to demonstrate ideas/points equations.

Some suggestions to improve this book:
Add about 40+ pages and separate equations and examples from the text, fully describe parts of the equation and how they interact and relate;
Have numerical examples for different problems.

Fun problems, complex brain teasers.

Random problems that have not so intuitive solutions. I found it really interesting, but don't expect to learn how to program an AI, that is not in the scope of this book.

Pleased!.......and a really big WOW!!

I have to say going in to this book thinking it was going to be real bad....BUT I was truly wrong. I was hooked from the beginning, so when I go in to book if cant hook me from the get go I pretty much loose interest from it set it down but I think I will defiantly read this book again.
I would say if you like werewolf books with a twist and a love story that's not all gooey, eye roiling sickly sweet! and give some mystery, lot of surprises, and a good deal of action! *grinning*
I like where the author is going. so I hope she keeps it up!!

Wow. Reese Morgan you are definitely one of my new favorite writers! Honestly, I didn't have high hopes for this book. I thought it was going to be just another generic werewolf book with a predictable ending. I couldn't of been more wrong! Your book was anything but predictable with never ending plot twists. It went above and beyond exceeding all of my expectations. I can usually guess things before they happen, but I never knew what was coming. It was very refreshing. I was also pleasantly surprised that the the main character was an inspiring heroine instead of an annoying damsel in distress who couldn't think for herself. I loved that Hayden had her own personality and was a complete bad ass. She stood up for what was right no matter what others thought. I have never read a paranormal romance that was so passionate about women empowerment. Hayden's point of views mirror my own, but I loved how you incorporated other views as well. I totally fell in love with all of your characters. They were incredibly well developed. I usually don't re read books, but I can definitely say that I will be re reading this series. I cannot wait for the fourth book! I have been recommending this series to everyone. I cannot praise it enough! I look forward to seeing what you come up with in the future! Xoxo

Great start to this interesting series!

Hayden was attacked a few months ago and now she knows something is different with her. Things are changing in her body, and mind, and after meeting some strange men things get even more complicated. Hayden is a werewolf now. And she has no idea what to do with her life, and things are going to work out.

After joining alpha Cole, and his pack things get even more complicated for her. With other alpha's not wanting her around, and people within the pack also not accepting her she's having a hard time adjusting. Then she finds out more about Cole that just throws salt on the wound.

This book surprised me. It started out really good, and ended really good but with a cliffhanger. Hayden was a great heroine in this story. She was strong, but still trying to figure out how she was suppose to act. And she was also very smart.

I also loved how she treated the pack. The only thing I didn't like was how Cole acted. I really did not connect to him in this story. It was beyond frustrating, but that's really the only downside to this one.

Not good for leaning UML

I bought this because I needed to get more firmly grounded in UML. I already had Ambler's "Elements of UML 2.0 Style" which points to this book as one possible way to get it. The other book he suggested was Fowler's "UML Distilled", but he claims his own book "goes beyond UML".

I liked the idea of learning UML in a software engineering context, especially one that emphasizes Agile programming. But that's not what I got. This is a long discourse on development models, with some bits and pieces of UML thrown in. Most of it is in a single chapter, with very few illustrations (for a visual language!). Really, UML is an afterthought.

I can't comment on the quality of Ambler's methods for software engineering -- I'm a technical writer, not a developer. What I needed was enough about Agile development to enable me to work with Agile teams. But from my limited understanding of Agile methods, I suspect that this is just old-fashioned software engineering in Agile drag.

So, this book has "UML" and "Agile" in the title, but isn't really about either. Buzzword compliance.

Great book for analysts too!!!!

I am an experienced analyst looking for an antidote to the RUPies use-case-jaundiced view of requirements. This book provided the perfect foil to the sentiment that use cases are all that is in the requirements universe.

It is not meant to be an exhaustive treatise of UML models, rather, it offers a different and, to me, refreshing view of what requirements for system building are supposed to be: agile, responsive and as varied as the projects that they are used on.

Additionally, the writing is light enough to be enjoyed and (what a novel idea) actually read. I have read Mr. Jacobson's books as well as Mr. Rumbaugh's. Albeit their authority status, their writing styles leave you wondering who they were writing for. It certainly wasn't me.

If you are looking for an alternative to the use-cases-as-panacea view of the world, this book will present a good fundamental look at how to get requirements written in a different way. And along the way, you will have a good time reading the book.
