Excellent Medical Romance

Review: This was the first Medical Romance by Melanie Milburne that I read and I was really very pleasantly surprised. I was not too sure that I would enjoy it as I am a fan of Melanie's Modern Romances. But I am aware that the author is married to a surgeon and that alone is what I recon helps her to create her medical books. The author not only tells us the story of a couple who have gone through a rough time in the past, she also weaves in some truly educational medical facts.
I enjoyed reading about the various patients and the little tidbits of their personal lives; it reminded me that when you're a doctor or a nurse one must never forget that the patients also have their own bridges to overcome when facing surgery.
And amongst this there is the simply fabulous love story of Mikki and Lewis who each hold their own secrets. The real question of course being if their secrets can overcome the love they share or will it destroy their newly re-formed relationship.
What I really enjoyed about the book was the old passion between Lewis and Mikki, the way the author not only brings the past into the equation but also how she incorporated the simmering passion between the couple to such a extent that I, at one point, wanted to shout out loud at Lewis and Mikki "What are the two of you doing!", but it just proves that old love never dies.
The use of medical references also reminded me that authors have to go through a lot of research before just penning down a good story. I recently learned that I am not the only person to cry when reading a book but the authors themselves sometimes delve so deep into their characters that they also do shed a tear and this shines through, throughout this book. You can almost feel the emotion and passion that the author poured into this fabulous read. This is definitely one for the keepers shelf and I, for one, am from now on going after more of Melanie's medicals instead of just the Modern's.
